Artist's Statement:

''I grew up on the west coast of Cumbria and have always been impressed by the bleak beauty and remarkable light there. My father inspired me with a love of drawing when I was 3 or 4; he was a gifted draughtsman who worked most of his life in the design department of a big engineering company.

My works fall into one of three categories: paintings, prints and graphic art, or sculpture; but they all tends to start life as a found-image of some sort which starts me on a journey of exploration, development and ultimate discovery.

Although I often use computers to help develop my work, I find my inspiration from the work of very painterly artists such as Turner, Goya, Paula Rego, John Currin and Marlene Dumas.''
