David's recent works are a series of loose oil paintings focusing on the theme of figures in a landscape. These paintings have been described as having a mood of haunting stillness and the compositions are characterised by a bold simplicity.

Typically his pictures originate from a 'found' image such as a family snap-shot. This image is then explored through a series of watercolour studies and experiments until the composition has been finalised. The resulting works are normally painted in oil on canvas.
